Sperm DNA fragmentation (DFI) testing is one of the most important tests for sperm functionality. It is an indicator of the integrity of the DNA molecule and high values are associated with low rates of pregnancy achievement, poor quality embryos, inhibition of their development, high rates of miscarriages and high rates of congenital anomalies in the offspring.
The method evaluates the presence of DNA fragments using the most appropriate SCD method, which is simple, fast and reliable, giving immediate results for the integrity of the DNA structure. DNA fragmentation is possible even in cases where all other sperm parameters are within normal levels. In samples with high fragmentation (>30%), ICSI and PICSI methods are recommended.
